Right to Start, the national nonprofit organization championing entrepreneurship as a civic priority, launched last night the California Starters Coalition, a statewide initiative to enhance the landscape of entrepreneurship. The coalition held an evening launch event – titled “Unlocking Entrepreneurial Opportunity for All” – at Connect Labs by Wexford in Sacramento, CA. Speaking at the launch event were Dr. Tara Lynn Gray, former Director of CalOSBA (California Office of the Small Business Advocate); Victor W. Hwang, Founder and CEO of Right to Start; and Clair Whitmer, Acting Director of CalOSBA.

Indianapolis, IN – October 10, 2024 – Right to Start, the national nonprofit organization championing entrepreneurship as a civic priority, announced today the launch of the Indiana Starters Coalition, a statewide initiative to advance entrepreneurship as a civic priority. Entrepreneurship is key to economic growth and quality of life, as young businesses create virtually all net job growth in America, and research across the 50 states shows that for every 1 percent increase in the entrepreneurship rate, the poverty rate decreases by 2 percent.

The data shows the presence of microbusinesses across the state and highlights the national economic impact on employment. The findings come from Venture Forward, an ongoing research initiative by GoDaddy that analyzes the impact of more than 20 million online microbusinesses. Venture Forward provides a unique view into the attitudes, demographics, and needs of these entrepreneurs. The data was unveiled at the West Virginia Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Conference in Huntington.
